Palm Springs’ neighbor to the south is up-and-comer Cathedral City, nicknamed Cat City by locals, with plenty of excitement on the horizon. In 2021, look for a new casino and amphitheater built from the ground up, joining the Mary Pickford Theatre, a fan favorite among locals and one of the best places to catch a film in the entire Coachella Valley. The area has a mix of homes from many eras including bungalows, ranches, and midcentury modern (including some situated in the mountainside enclave of Cathedral City Cove), many with easterly views to the valley, mountain ranges, and beyond. Bonus: Housing prices here are more budget friendly compared to neighboring towns.
